Tuesdays With Dorie – Buttermilk Scones.

After the rich and creamy Chocolate-Mascarpone Cheesecake, the Buttermilk Scones were a kind of break, a lovely interlude. The recipe was really easy and very quick, with just some ingredients, usual equipments, and a sleight of hand!!! The result was nice, this recipe is one of the greatest that I have made. The outside of the scone is paper-thin and crisp and opens to an incredibly light, tender, and buttery crumb, maybe a bit buttery. To be 100% perfect, the next time, I will omit the melt butter, I think there is enough in... [Lire la suite]

Tuesdays With Dorie – Onion Bialys.

Regularly when the weather is cold and/or rainy, I like a good soup. It’s warm, comforting and healthy. Generally, I served it with bread or roll, I change depending on the kind of soup I cook. So the recipe this week: Onion Bialys, was perfect to serve with my meal. The recipe was easy to make, according to my taste, I substitute mince yellow onion in the sponge by a seed mix, and used for the topping caramelized onion instead onion/poppy seeds topping. I also halved the recipe and obtained 6 bialys, I made 3 with onion topping... [Lire la suite]

Tuesdays With Dorie - Country Bread.

What a pleasure to come back after a long absence! Absence: not chosen and a bit forced. Anyway, I'm very happy to come back with the New Year. And I take this opportunity to wish you a happy New Year. May 2014 bring you all the good that life has to offer! And to start the year, the recipe selected is the Country Bread. The bread is quite simple, you just need  to make the sponge 6/8 h before or the previous day. Otherwise, the recipe and the dough don’t give any problem, the dough is fairly easy to handle. I divided the... [Lire la suite]

Tuesdays with Dorie – Foccacia.

One word: AMAZING!!! I love this recipe, it was the first time I made a foccacia and certainly not the last!!! The recipe was quite easy, just follow each step, and don't forget that it need 2 days to make it. As for lot of Italian recipes, you can do everything you want with it: savoury, sweet, plain, with herbs or with vegetables, for a sandwich, pizza… one more time, just feel free and play with it!!!! As Julia Child say about it: “these foccacias are so gorgeous,[…],that you’ll want to make them the main event” so, she has... [Lire la suite]

I missed lot of recipes since the begining of the Baking with Julia's adventures, so I try to catch up my delay, and I have a large choice!!!! And.........I made BAGELS!!!!! The famous American bagels!!!! And it was so good!!!!! I followed the recipe, step by step, and I was not disappointed, my bagels turned well.   In France they are not very popular, and I never ate it before, so made it was kind of challenge. I don’t have some comparison but I really like the result, the taste and the texture. I chose to add a mix of... [Lire la suite]

For my first participation for Tuesdays with Dorie, a rewind it’s a good entrance cause I made lots of Dorie Greenspan recipes, I often read and followed the blogs of the group, but I never participated!!! Why????.... Anyway now it’s repaired and I’m very happy to start with this flavourful bread. Easy to make and easy to eat!!!!! It can be described as a simply and tasty bread. Toasted or not, with butter, marmalade or for a sandwich… It’s just delectable…. I always made this bread following the original recipe, but this time... [Lire la suite]
